Stuck Places

We all know what it’s like to feel stuck in a behaviour, thought or emotional pattern. It might be judgment of yourself or the other person, fear of the unknown or anger that might explode into violence at times. You might wonder why you avoid some things that are good for you while continuing to do other things that you know are harmful to yourself and/or others.

Stuck places occur in all areas of our lives. I find my mind in a loop of thoughts that I can’t stop. My partner seems to know all of my buttons and when best to push them so I lose control. Work feels empty and hopeless, something I have to do so I can pay my bills. And what about our connection with the Divine? If we are from a religious, faith or spiritual tradition, isn’t the Divine supposed to be present in every moment?

Can you even imagine not being stuck in this place? What would it be like to experience the freedom, the joy of being you in every moment?

The next section, Emotional Entanglements, speaks of how and why these stuck places happen and offers new perspectives, new hope for change. But first, it’s important to dip into areas of your life to find those stuck places within yourself, in relationships, in larger groups and with the Divine. Of course, there are many other areas to explore as you become aware of the power of your mind. But for now, look inside yourself to see where your past continues to create your present unless you choose to open and expand into joy.
